About Us
The name Vindigo comes from a playful coming together of the words Vino and Indigo. We are passionate about wine tourism, the colourful art and culture of our region and of course the desire to go and explore on whatever safari or journey appeals.
C uriosity and the desire to discover is at the very heart of what we do, which is why we want to know what makes you tick. What sparks your interest? Which people, places and stories turn your journey into something more personal and beautiful?
“ Follow what draws you in. That is where the most interesting journeys begin.”
Who Started It All?
Behind Vindigo is Melissa whose passion is to connect people to places and opportunities creating win-win scenarios. A seasoned traveller and former diplomat, Melissa has deep local roots to Southern Africa as well as a global perspective.
Melissa's connection to wine began through her German father and the wine farm he once owned in the Cape. It was her English grandmother who nurtured her creative side, encouraging her to see things from a different perspective.
Her years as a diplomat in New York deepened her understanding of people, cultures and the value of genuine connection. More than 25 years in travel have since brought all of these influences together, shaping the way she sees a destination — and the way she creates journeys.
Today, Melissa and her dedicated team share that same love of travel, curiosity and connection, bringing their own interests, experience and perspective to the unique journeys Vindigo creates.
